Eccovision Acoustic Diagnostic Imaging System

What if you could find the exact spot where your airway collapses at night, without needles, scopes, or guesswork? For people who snore or struggle with sleep apnea, treatment too often feels like trial and error. The Eccovision Acoustic Diagnostic Imaging System changes that by giving your provider a clear, measurable picture of your nasal and oral airways in just minutes, so your treatment plan is built on real data, not assumptions.

At Tri-State Snoring and Sleep Center, Laurie Anne Stanell, DMD, has dedicated her practice to helping patients breathe and sleep better with comfortable, CPAP-free options whenever possible. Her commitment to advanced, evidence-based diagnostic technology is one reason patients across Bucks County trust her with their care.

What Is the Eccovision Acoustic Diagnostic Imaging System?

Developed by Sleep Group Solutions, the Eccovision system is an FDA-cleared, in-office diagnostic tool that uses sound waves to measure the size and shape of your airway. The device combines two technologies:

  • Pharyngometer: Measures the oral airway, including the area behind the tongue and soft palate where most snoring and apnea events occur.

  • Rhinometer: Measures the nasal airway to identify blockages, turbinate swelling, or structural narrowing.

Together, these tools help Dr. Stanell quickly identify where your airway is collapsing and how severe the obstruction is.

How It Works

The technology is simple, painless, and non-invasive. Sound waves are gently sent into your airway through a small mouthpiece or nasal adapter. As those waves bounce back, the system measures the reflections and converts them into a detailed map of your airway’s volume and narrowest points.

The entire process takes only a few minutes and requires no sedation, dyes, or imaging radiation.

Benefits of Acoustic Airway Imaging

  • Pinpoints the exact site and severity of airway collapse

  • Helps determine if an oral appliance is likely to work for you

  • Allows Dr. Stanell to fine-tune appliance positioning for maximum airway opening

  • Tracks progress over time as your treatment advances

  • Comfortable, fast, and completely radiation-free

Who Can Benefit?

This technology is ideal for patients who snore, have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, or are exploring alternatives to CPAP. It is also a valuable screening tool for those who suspect a sleep breathing problem but have not yet been formally evaluated. Used alongside at-home sleep testing and coordination with your physician, the Eccovision system helps Dr. Stanell craft a truly personalized care plan.
